April Moon 2016
Good view of the Terminator (that line that marks light from darkness).

Good surface detail using 9mm telescope lens with DSLR mounted to Celestron Nexstar 130 SLT

Good view of the maria (areas that ancient observers thought were seas)

At the terminator line, you can see how sunlight accentuates the craters and you can see the ridges and mountains, as well as the lighted rims of the craters. A smooth mare extends to the right.

This is a photo of a waxing moon rising in the early morning dark sky. The photo is reversed in accordance to the refractive nature of the telescope.

To me, this is one of the more interesting shots. It shows mountain ridges, impact craters and maria. You can see brightly lit crater bowls which show the light color of the surface material.

One of my favorite photos, this shot offers a lot of detail. In the lower portion of the photo, you see the image attributed to the face of the man on the Moon. Extraordinary detail includes what was probably ancient lava flows, impact craters, maria and ridges.

I shot this photo just before the Sun's rays broke the horizon

Good view of the cratered surface of the Moon at the terminator

Using a 6mm lens, I got close enough to see a distinction of material on the Moon. You will notice the color difference on the inside of several craters

I placed this photo on the wall inside my office

This is an unretouched photo of the Moon as thin clouds passed over it giving the Moon an unnatural like effect

How many constellations can you identify?

Here's a little Genesis...

This photo and the accompanying poem was written for Donna Donnet (Carter) Brown, my sister who passed on Dec 1, 2020. Donna led an adventurous life through her profession, her faith, her family and her travels. Whether on her Honda Goldwing, skiing or reading slides, Donna put in 100%. She is sorely missed; may she Rest In Peace.

This photo is overlaid with my sister Enois Pauline Saunder's favorite Bible verse: Hebrews 11-1.
